About The Orange Knowledge Program:

On the 1st of July, 2017, the Netherlands Fellowship Programs (NFP) entered a new phase as a new program under the name “Kennisontwikkelings programma” (KOP), which translates in English- Orange Knowledge Program (OKP).

KOP main target is to advance the development of the capacity, knowledge and quality of both individuals and institutions in higher and vocational education.

Accepted Nationalities:

Applicants from the following countries are eligible;

Nigeria, Bangladesh, Benin, Burkina Faso, Burundi, Colombia, Congo (DRC), Egypt, Ethiopia, Ghana, Guatemala, Guinea, Indonesia, Iraq, Jordan, Kenya, Lebanon, Liberia, Mali, Mozambique, Myanmar, Niger, Palestinian Territories, Rwanda, Senegal, Sierra Leone, Somalia, South Africa, South Sudan, Sudan, Suriname, Tanzania, Tunisia, Uganda, Vietnam, Yemen and Zambia.

Focus Themes/Course:

  • Sexual and reproductive health and rights
  • Security and rule of law
  • Food and nutrition security
  • Water management
  • There are focus areas for each country. Please note that these focus areas, as well as the list of countries are subject to change. Only applications that fall within the focus area of your country of employment are eligible.

 Eligibility of The Orange Knowledge Program:

To be considered for the Orange Knowledge Program, applicants must;

  • Be a professional and a national of, and working and living in one of the countries on the Orange Knowledge Program (OKP) Country list valid at the time of application
  • Have a current employer’s statement that complies with the formal Nuffic has provided. All information must be provided and all commitments that are included in the formal must be endorsed in the statement
  • Not be employed or staffed by an organization which can be expected to have their own funds for staff development
  • Possess a current employer’s statement which complies with the format Nuffic has designated.
  • Must have a government statement that meets the requirements of the country in which the employer is established (if requested)
  • Have an official passport that must carries the validity of at least three months after the submission date of the registration form by the candidate.

Others;

Applicants must be;

  • Motivated;
  • Residing and working in an OKP country;
  • Proficient in English or French, at least the basics.
  • Working in one of the priority areas for their country;
  • Able to motivate using and deploying their knowledge and experience in their employing organization after their studies;
  • Be ready to agree to the OKP obligations and conditions. A document that entails the terms and condition of application has been provided on the registration page.

How to Apply for The Orange Knowledge Program:

  • Check if your application falls within the OKP focus areas determined for your country.
  • You must meet the eligibilities criteria before applying.
  • Find a course on the OKP course list. You can find a study using the filter “Orange Knowledge Program (OKP)”.
  • Request from your employer if they are willing to nominate you for an OKP scholarship.
  • Contact the Dutch education institution of your choice to receive more information about the application procedure, the academic requirements and the link to apply online.
  • Arrange the following documents for your application; Employer statement, Motivation, Passport, Government statement.
  • During an application round, submit your application online using the link you receive from the Dutch education institution. Take note of the deadline of each institution when applying.

Selection Process:

The selection procedure is as follows:

1. Candidates register with their desired Dutch education institution.
2. Dutch institution nominates candidates and submits grant applications.
3. Embassies check eligibility and assess applications thoroughly.
4. Selection results available for Dutch education institutions.
5. Grants will be awarded through various Dutch education institutions.

Please note; results of applications are announced 3 to 4 months after application. The Dutch education institution through which you applied for the scholarship will contact you on the results of your application. You will be acknowledged by the institution only if selected, do not fall victim of fraud.

Benefits of the The Orange Knowledge Program:

  • A Orange Knowledge Program is purported to supplement the salary that you should continue to receive during the study period in the Netherlands.
  • The allowance is a contribution towards your costs of living, the costs of tuition fees, visas, travel, insurance (medicals) and thesis research.
  • If applicable, the fellowship holder is expected to cover the difference between the actual costs and the amount of the personal OKP allowances.

Document Required:

  • Employer Statement; Applicants currently employed will need an employer statement that is signed by them and their employers. It shows OKP that your employer supports your application. In return, you can share the knowledge and experience you gained in the Netherlands once you return to your country. This is required because the OKP is focused on strengthening organizations by strengthening people.
  • Government Statement; If you are a civil servant working with the government, it might be required of you to sign a government statement. This accredits the support of your government for your OKP application.
  • Motivation Letter
  • A passport copy
