Frequently Asked Questions

Which nursing semester is the most challenging?

As a result of culture shock from a tight schedule, many nursing students report that their first semester of school is the hardest.

How can I tell if I will make a good nurse?

A competent nurse understands that the risks are great and that, in contrast to most other professions, they are in charge of people's health and, more crucially, their lives. One of the personality traits that nurses have that can simply and rapidly decide how successful they'll be in their profession is a high attention to detail.

Causes of the Growing Need for Nurses

The nursing profession is expected to grow during the next ten years for the following reasons:

Constant Population Increase

With an annual growth rate of 1.05% in 2020 compared to 1.08%, 1.10%, and 1.125% AGRs in 2019, 2018, and 2017, respectively, it appears that the global population is trending downhill. Experts do predict that global population growth will continue, but more slowly than in the past. An increasing number of people will require access to healthcare due to population growth.

Aging Baby Boomer Population

The aging of the baby boomer generation—those born between 1946 and 1964—is even more worrisome. For this reason, a lot of investors are already flooding the market with capital for assisted living and nursing homes. Nurses will be in demand at these other healthcare facilities in addition to addressing the shortages in the hospital setting. As a result, there will be a higher need for nurses to care for this generation as they approach their golden years.

Emergence of Novel Technologies

Technology is being increasingly used by the medical sector. When new technology is implemented, many providers will want experienced staff to oversee it. RNs will undoubtedly assume leadership roles in these roles, which typically demand candidates to possess a thorough understanding of technology as well as the necessary medical training and knowledge. When it comes to telemedicine, automated IV pumps, centralized command centers, portable monitors, electronic health records, and other emerging technologies, experienced registered nurses usually possess the requisite skill set.

An Extension of Life Expectancy

Global life expectancy rates increased by more than six years between 2000 and 2019, primarily as a result of medical technology breakthroughs, according to the WHO. Notably, a greater number of people living longer will necessitate greater medical assistance as they age. It will take more nurses to give that support and care.

Better Reforms in Health

Hospitals and clinics are required by law to provide the required care, as many nations strive to enhance healthcare delivery and make it more accessible to all. Treatment is now available to low-income family groupings in the US thanks to the Affordable Care Act. Hiring extra nurses to assist is one way to handle these growing needs.

Primary Care Physician Shortage

According to a recent research by the Association of American Medical Colleges, there may be a 55,300 primary care physician deficit by 2032. Because of this scarcity, nurses’ involvement in healthcare systems will grow. There will be a need for family nurse practitioners, especially in places where they have complete practice power. More medical facilities will resort to nurses in order to keep up with the enormous increase in the medical industry, as training so many doctors will take years.

Holistic Care Focus

The popularity of holistic care has increased due to a rising body of data, and nurses may play a significant role in meeting this need. Nurses are aware of the requirements for a patient’s spiritual, mental, emotional, and physical well-being. People are requesting this form of care due to the claimed favorable results, and many hospitals and healthcare facilities are now integrating holistic methods into their medical delivery.
