The Silesian University of Technology is providing a scholarship for its best first semester international students of the first or second cycle in a full course of study within the Excellence Initiative- Research University programme. This scholarship is open to Bachelor’s and Master’s degree applicants from all country.

Students need to fulfil requirements confirming that they were among the best students at the previous level of education and the settlement of the first semester tuition fee to the university.
The total disbursement of The Silesian University of Technology scholarship is PLN 21,000 gross and it is transferred in 3 instalments after each completed examination session at the university.

Eligibility of The Silesian University of Technology Scholarship:

A pro-quality contest is announced for scholarships for the best international students of the Silesian University of Technology commencing their full-time studies of the first or second cycle in a full course of studies.
The requirement for entering the contest is:

  • In case of the 1st-cycle students ; Completion of a secondary school with a final grade placing the applicant among the best 20% of graduates from a given year in classes with similar curricula certified by the school principal in a written form either in Polish or in English, payment of a semester tuition fee for education at the Silesian University of Technology, as well as submitting the application in accordance with the given template.
  • In case of the 2nd-cycle students; completion of the 1st-cycle studies with the highest grade stipulated in the regulations in force in a given university, certified by the dean or the rector of that university in a written form either in Polish or in English, payment of a semester tuition fee for education at the Silesian University of Technology, as well as submitting the application, the template of which is provided in the Annex.

Selection Criteria and Process:

  • The Silesian University of Technology Rector’s Committee for Awards and Pro-quality Programmes, hereinafter referred to as the Committee, shall assess the submitted applications and record the minutes.
  • The submitted applications shall be assessed by the Committee members present at the meeting on the scale from 0 to 5.
  • A positive recommendation is based on the place on the ranking list of applicants who obtained at least 50% of the maximum number of points.
  • The Rector shall take a decision on granting a scholarship after considering the Committee’s assessment.
    Selected Students will be notified about their selection and following steps.

Benefits of The Silesian University of Technology Scholarship:

The Silesian University of Technology Scholarship offers the following Benefits to selected students;

  • The scholarship shall be granted in the amount of 21,000 PLN gross.
  • The scholarship shall be paid in PLN, in three equal instalments, whereby the first instalment shall be transferred within three months after the commencement of the education.
  • The second and the third ones within two months after the commencement of the education at the 2nd and the 3rd semester respectively, to the bank account given in the personal data form, completed by the winners of the contest, which means: persons who were granted the scholarship.

How to Apply:

  • The application and attachments to this application shall be submitted in Polish or English. Standard translation of these documents into Polish or English language is also accepted.
  • The applications shall be submitted to the International Relations Office until 31 October in case of students beginning their education in the winter semester and until 31 March in case of students beginning their education in the summer semester.
  • The applications shall be submitted either in person (including all required attachments in original for verification purposes) or electronically (including all required attachments) to the following email address: rn3@polsl.pl .
  • The candidate’s statement confirming the validity and accuracy of the submitted documents shall also be attached to the application.

Document Required:

The following documents are required to apply for this scholarship;

  • Copy of the applicant’s results on the matriculation certificate and a written confirmation from the school principal that the applicant graduated from a secondary school with a final grade placing the applicant among the best 20% of graduates from a given year in classes with similar curricula.

In case of the 1st-cycle students;

  • An excerpt from the 1st-cycle studies and a written confirmation from the dean or the rector of the university where the applicant completed 1st –cycle studies with the highest grade stipulated in the regulations in force in a given university

In case of the 2nd-cycle students;

  • The opinion written by a selected teacher from the school/university of graduation, documents confirming the achievements in scientific, sports and organisational fields, in particular, the results obtained during subject contests.
