To prepare students to become advanced practitioners in nurse anesthesia who are qualified for certification as certified registered nurse anesthetists (CRNAs) and licensing as Advanced Practice Registered Nurses, the Louisiana State University CRNA Degree program integrates health sciences with nursing sciences (APRNs). Louisiana State University CRNA Degree Admissions criteria

These are the credentials and admission requirements of the Louisiana State University CRNA degree program:

1. Official transcripts attesting to the awarding of a BSN or BSN equivalent from a regionally authorized college or university. Transcripts from both your undergraduate and graduate studies must be submitted. The nursing program must be accredited for the nursing degree to be awarded.
2. On transcripts, all undergraduate and graduate course work had a grade point average of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
3. A letter of academic good standing from the nursing school the applicant previously attended must be given if they had attended a nursing program in the past without receiving a degree.
4. Within the last five (5) years, applicants must have obtained official GRE scores of 300 (or better) when combining their verbal and quantitative scores on the 130-170 scale. The required writing score is 3.0 or higher.
5. For those candidates who have English as a second language or who did not graduate from a program in the United States, a minimum TOEFL score of 550 (paper-based) or 79 (internet-based).
6. As required by the program, three references in support of the application for graduate admission.
7. Experience in clinical nursing as defined by the concentration.
8. A current, unencumbered nursing license in order to qualify for licensing in Louisiana.
9. Completing the interview process successfully.
10. Without the awarding of a Master’s degree, the BSN equivalent does not satisfy the admission criteria.

1. At the time of applying, you must have had at least (1) one (1) year of full-time experience in critical care during the previous two (2) years.
2. A minimum of two of the three letters of recommendation should come from a peer and a current supervisor.
