Texas Wesleyan University CRNA Program Entry requirements

Candidates must show that they have the academic and professional knowledge and abilities necessary to successfully complete the Texas Wesleyan University CRNA program:

1. Nursing Background and License

  • A current, unrestricted RN license that is good for the entire 50 states and U.S. territories
  • License must not have any conditions, restrictions, or probation attached.
  • For Phase II training, a valid state RN license is necessary.
  • A year or more of full-time critical care experience is required.
  • Must be less than three years from the anticipated start date
  • The hospital must be located in the United States, a U.S. territory, or a U.S. military hospital.
  • Current certification for Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support” (ACLS)
  • Currently Certified Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
  • CCRN needed

2. Test Scores and Education

  • A bachelor’s degree from an institution or university that is properly accredited
  • Your nursing degree must have included clinicals and come from a university that uses a traditional grading system because this is a competitive program.
  • Verbal and quantitative GRE scores with a cumulative score of 300 are strongly encouraged (Reporting code: 6828)
  • 3.0 GPA or higher (Overall or last 60 hours)
  • 3.0 or better in science is strongly preferred.
  • Within three years of the program’s start date, complete a college-level chemistry course (no lab necessary) with a grade of B or higher.
  • By June 1 of the year you begin the program, send your transcript.
  • The college suggests Organic Chemistry or higher.
  • Chemistry for introduction or science minors is not accepted.
  • Obtain a B- or better in a college-level math course.
  • By June 1 of the year you begin the program, send your transcript.
  • Algebra cannot be substituted by a statistics course.

Other prerequisites:

  1. A personal statement that details the applicant’s preparation for a position in advanced practice as a nurse anesthetist and their professional growth as a registered nurse in critical care
  2. Interview with a professional in which the applicant exhibits understanding of critical care and professional development

  1. Applicants for the Fall of 2023, send your application!
    The application deadline has been extended to January 31, 2023, for the fall 2023 cohort.
  2. Qualified candidates will be notified for an interview in January.
  3. Acceptance letters will be delivered between January 30 and February 15.
    Following interviews in January through the first few days of February, acceptance letters will be sent out, and they will include the designated clinical location. Within 14 calendar days of notification, you must accept your seat, confirm your clinical site assignment, and pay your seat deposit.
  4. Set August 2023 as the date for new student orientation.
    In August 2023, there will be a new student orientation.
