The university contributes about £10 billion to the UK economy each year, mostly through the impact of its own spending (£3 billion), which is offset by the dissemination of its research and knowledge (£4 billion).

UCL is a part of UCL Partners, the largest academic health science center in the world, and is a member of many academic associations, including the Russell Group and the League of European Research Universities. It is regarded as being a component of southeast England’s “golden triangle” of research-heavy universities. 25. Pennsylvania State University:

The Pennsylvania State Institution, also known as Penn State or PSU, is a public land-grant research university with locations all around Pennsylvania. Penn State, the sole land-grant institution in the state, was established in 1863 and began as the Farmers’ High School of Pennsylvania in 1855. In the modern era, Penn State is a significant research institution that engages in teaching, research, and public service.

Undergraduate, graduate, professional, and continuing education are all part of its educational purpose and are provided both in-person and online. A publicly funded university that is thought to offer an education of a caliber equivalent to that of the Ivy League has been dubbed one of the “Public Ivies,” with its University Park campus being one of these institutions.

It is one of just four colleges in the country (together with Cornell University, Oregon State University, and University of Hawai’i at Mnoa) to have the titles of land-grant, sea-grant, space-grant, and sun-grant. The Borough of State College and College Township contain its largest and administratively most important campus, University Park. It has two law schools: Dickinson Law in Carlisle and Penn State Law on the university’s University Park campus. Hershey is home to the College of Medicine. With about 46,800 graduate and undergraduate students enrolled annually, the University Park campus is one of the biggest institutions in the country. The largest dues-paying alumni association in the entire world is there. The institution has about 97,500 students enrolled in total across its 24 sites and online through its World Campus in 2015–16. Across all of its sites, the university offers more than 160 majors. During the 2016 fiscal year, the institution spent $836 million on research.

The largest student-run philanthropy in the world, the Penn State IFC/Panhellenic Dance Marathon (THON), is held each year at the university. The Bryce Jordan Center on the University Park campus is where this event is hosted. The program record donation from THON in 2022 was $13.7 million. The Penn State Nittany Lions are the name of the university’s Division I athletic teams, which participate in the Big Ten Conference in the majority of their sports. 54 Olympic medals have been won by Penn State students, graduates, staff, and coaches in total.
