What Requirements do I need to go to Universal Technical Institute?

UTI School Review

After selecting a training location, you must complete certain entrance standards to be able to join our business school. Review the following prerequisites and contact an authorized representative with any queries you may have.

1. Age Requirement

A potential student must be at least 16 years old in order to enroll. Please note that the enrollment agreement must be signed by a parent or legal guardian for any students under the age of 18.

2. Admission Requirement

Before class begins, the institution assesses with reasonable certainty that the applicant possesses the requisite requirements to finish the training. Before class begins, any enrollment agreement and other pertinent information given by the applicant will be evaluated.

All students are admitted to the UTI upon acceptance of a matriculation contract, subject to availability. The student’s status remains conditional until the documentation is deemed satisfactory.

It is strongly recommended to give a sufficient amount of time (preferably at least 30 days) for both the evaluation of submitted documents and the notification of a planned school relocation.

3. Entry Requirements

Before enrolling or re-enrolling, students must submit one of the following, and UTI must accept one of the following, to satisfy the school’s admittance requirements:

  • State-recognized, standards-based high school diploma for the student (documented with a copy of the diploma, a high school diploma, or DD form 214 showing proof of graduation).

The evaluation of diplomas and certificates occurs upon receipt. UTI School Review the legitimacy of diplomas and maintains the right to reject those deemed invalid.

Note: Students from Tennessee attending MMI-Orlando or UTI-Houston, as well as all NASCAR Tech students, are required to present copies of their official high school credentials, not reproductions of their high school diplomas, in order to meet the admission requirements; or

  • State-issued GED or comparable exam recognized by the state. Students residing in Tennessee and enrolled in MMI-Orlando or UTI-Houston, as well as all NASCAR Tech students, are required to produce copies of their official GED certificates, not reproductions of their certification, in order to meet the eligibility requirements.
  • Prior to July 1, 2012, you must provide evidence that you participated in a post-IV program in line with the Ability to Benefit (ATB) program (documented with a copy of the official ATB test results and transcript)
  • Successful completion of a course at the postsecondary level (associate’s degree, as well as submission of an official college certificate);
  • Completion of an officially recognized homeschool curriculum. The home-schooling documentation necessary for review by UTI is contingent upon government requirements.

If secondary education was finished in a state that issues high school diplomas, a copy of the diploma is required. If the state does not have such requirements, additional documentation, including a certificate with all courses, grades, and completion dates, must be provided for evaluation, along with a notarized statement.

The campus registrar or designated person will check the home school documents and tell the applicant if more documentation is necessary.

Prerequisites for foreign students

Foreign educational documents from outside the United States or its territories that cannot be instantly verified as genuine evidence of high school graduation by a university official must be submitted to an external evaluation agency at the expense of the prospective student.

In addition to the basic entrance requirements outlined above, applicants for the Cummins Engines and Cummins Power Generation programs must fulfill the following:

  • You must be a graduate of UTI or NASCAR Tech or a NASCAR Tech student with no more than 10 courses remaining in his UTI or NASCAR Tech program.
  • possess a valid car record
  • have no current MVR attitudes on drinking and driving; and
  • Meet individually with the Advanced Training Manager. (At Cummins Engines and Cummins Power Generation, applicants meet with a campus-based student development advisor.) Only applicants who meet standards 1 through 3 are eligible for an interview.
  • The completion of all entry requirements does not guarantee acceptance into a program. If the number of qualifying applications exceeds the number of available spots, the school selects the applicants with the highest GPA, attendance, and interview responses.

Requirements for Non-Matriculating Students

Students who do not participate in a comprehensive, state-approved program are not required to take the GED or a state-approved equivalent exam. If a student later enrolls in a full program, all of the aforementioned admission requirements must be completed.

My experience so far has been incredible, and I will be attending on July 20, 2020. I have already spent 3 weeks here for a summer ignite program that helps me complete a class so that I do not need to take it again. I passed the course, and this university is truly going to put me up for life; but, I need this scholarship to assist with tuition costs.

Freshman

I recently enrolled in college. The lecturers are friendly, direct, and enthusiastic about their fields. I would like a better navigating experience to be the sole modification I would suggest. Walking around the halls gave me a tinge of confusion. It would be fantastic if there were better maps on the walls to facilitate navigation throughout the facilities.
