University of Pavia CICOPS Scholarships for International Students

The University of Pavia and EDiSU are pleased to offer the University of Pavia CICOPS Scholarships for International Students from developing countries for a period of stay of 4 to 12 weeks at the University of Pavia.

The University will be happy to welcome you as a student seeking a degree or as a participant in one of our student exchange programs for study, training, or internship. International scholars are also welcomed at the University of Pavia for brief teaching assignments.

Eligibility Requirements

In order to qualify for the University of Pavia CICOPS Scholarships, applicants must fulfill the requirements listed below:

• Candidates must have at least two years of experience teaching or working with international institutions and organizations.
• Scholarships are intended for junior and senior faculty members at universities in developing nations, as well as for those affiliated with significant research institutions, international organizations, or institutions, who have a particular interest in the field of development studies.
• In order to promote the mobility of researchers from developing nations, CICOPS scholarships are designated for short-term research collaboration.
• Applicants cannot apply if they are enrolled in a doctoral or postgraduate program at an Italian university. Please consult the website’s FAQ section for more details.

CONDITIONS AND OTHER TERMS

• a) The scholarship covers all costs associated with travel, lodging, and food as well as a health insurance coverage and a weekly payment of 150.00 Euros (gross).
• b) Selected scholars must confirm acceptance of the University of Pavia CICOPS Scholarships and its terms within 20 days of receiving the email communication informing them of their acceptance, along with the precise dates of their requested stay, and stating that they have any prerequisites that may be necessary due to their health situation.

If a single room is available in a university house in Pavia for the agreed-upon period of time, EDISU will reserve it after receiving notice of the length of the stay. Being understood that without the permission of EDiSU, the communicated term of stay cannot be afterwards adjusted. In the event of a potential health emergency, EDiSU maintains the right to modify the terms and conditions of the accommodation.

• c) If a candidate doesn’t confirm acceptance, he or she forfeits the right to the scholarship, which is then given to the applicant who comes after them in the ranking. The planned program that was agreed upon when the scholarship was assigned will not be changed.
• d) Following receipt of the scholarship declaration of acceptance, the University of Pavia will:

1. Send a letter of invitation in support of the visa application (with advance arrangements; in exceptional circumstances, a contribution toward visa issuance will be allowed);
2. Purchase a roundtrip economy flight ticket;
3. Specify a personal accident insurance policy and health insurance;
4. Arrange lodging at a college for the duration of the visit to Pavia;
5. A card to use at university canteens for meals;

• e) The hosting Department will ensure that all essential resources (such as libraries, computer centers, etc.) are available for study and research activities.
• f) The chosen student will have to sign the EDISU Regulation, which is applicable to all university housing, as well as any paperwork pertaining to the health safety protocols (Protocol, Vedemecum, etc.). The study period will be interrupted and the scholarship forfeited if the Regulation is not followed.
• g) The chosen scholar can be asked to give one or more lectures on the subject of his or her research.
• h) Scholars are required to turn in a report on the work they did at the host Department as well as copies of any articles or publications at the conclusion of their time in Pavia.

Application Deadline

The duration of the stay should fall between January 8th and July 20th 2024 and September 9th and December 21st 2024 in order to promote interaction between faculty and students.

Applications must be submitted online via the CICOPS website’s application form no later than May 31st, 2023.

Documents Required

The following files need to be uploaded to the form online:

• 1. Curriculum vitae with a list of publications, preferably in European format (file to be named Surname_Name_CV).
• 2. A letter of invitation from the professor or researcher you plan to work with (file name: Surname_Name_Letter).

The names of the uploaded files should match those specified above. Applications without an invitation letter and a curriculum vitae with the proper title won’t be considered.

Please wait until you have received the letter of acceptance from your contact professor at the University of Pavia before completing your application. No allowances will be made; applications that are incomplete will be rejected.

How to Apply

Before applying for CICOPS Scholarships for International Students, candidates should carefully read the CALL and the FAQ. They should then complete the online application form only after receiving a letter of invitation from their University of Pavia contact professor.

Please be aware that applications that are not full will be rejected; there will be no exceptions. The letter of invitation in particular is necessary for the application.
