• who will be enrolled in a study program in Slovakia while pursuing their higher education elsewhere and who will be granted academic mobility1 to study in Slovakia by a public, private, or state university in Slovakia.

All three requirements must be satisfied. Studies leading to a doctoral degree (or an equivalent) do not fall under this category.

• Duration of a scholarship stay (students): 1–2 full semesters (i.e., 4–5 or 9–10 months) or complete 1–3 trimesters (i.e., 3–4 or 6–7 or 9–10 months) if the academic year is divided into trimesters.

B) PhD students accepted by a public, private, or state university or research institution in Slovakia that is eligible to carry out a doctoral study program (such as the Slovak Academy of Sciences) for an academic mobility to study, conduct research, or stay in Slovakia as an artist.

• Scholarship stays for PhD students might last between one and ten months.

C) Foreign university professors, researchers, and artists who have been invited to Slovakia by an organization that holds a current certificate of eligibility to conduct research and development but is not a business corporation and has its headquarters there.

• Scholarship stays can last between one and ten months for university instructors, researchers, or artists.

The National Scholarship Program does not provide funding for:

How to Apply for Slovakia Government Scholarships

The Slovakia Government Scholarship application must be submitted electronically, and all deadlines must be met. It is best to secure a visa as soon as you can to prevent late submissions because some students require one in order to enter and remain in Slovakia.

• Confirmation that the applicant is a regular student of the respective university at the time of application; the confirmation must include information on the anticipated date that the applicant’s studies will be completed; in the event that the applicant is unable to obtain a confirmation of studies from his or her university due to extraordinary circumstances brought on by force majeure, the applicant may submit a declaration of honor that.

In the declaration, the applicant explains why he or she was unable to obtain the required document, as well as the year, level (i.e., bachelor’s or master’s studies, or other equivalent), and anticipated completion date of the course of study. If such an application is to receive a scholarship, he or she must present an official confirmation from the university that matches the stated facts regarding studies before the applicant is given the formal letter of award.
