About Microsoft Disability Scholarship

Microsoft is offering scholarships to suitably qualified students. This scholarship is to help students with financial challenges to further their education. This scholarship  delivers one of the missions of Microsoft which is the creation of a cross-disability employee resource group to empower and enable people with disabilities. The Microsoft disability scholarship helps high school students with disability to attend college and embark on a career in the technology industry. It also increases the amount of people living with disability enrolled in higher education and generally, reduce the level of unemployment.

Details of Microsoft Disability Scholarship

  • Level: Undergraduate.
  • Deadline: March 15, 2022.
  • Funding: $5,000 per year, $20,000 in total for 4 years.
  • Eligible Nationalities: All high school students living with a disability or financial challenge.
  • Type of Study: Full-Time Course.
  • Country: USA.
  • University: USA or have a USA affiliate for financial transactions.
  • Field of Study: Various Fields

Eligibility for Microsoft Disability Scholarship

To be eligible to apply, applicants must be;

  1. Students with financial needs.
  2. Promising high school seniors. Note: The applicant must plan to attend vocational or Academic college.
  3. Plan to attend an undergraduate program in a 2 or 4-year University/College or Technical College. Schools must be in the USA or have a USA-Affiliate for financial transactions (contact Seattle Foundation to verify non-USA school’s eligibility).
  4. Declare an approved major in engineering, computer science, computer information systems, law, business, or a related field (e.g. paralegal, pre-law, finance, business administration, or marketing).
  5. Demonstrate a passion for technology.
  6. Demonstrate leadership at school and/or in the community.
  7. Have a high school cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher.
  8. Enrollment status must be full-time or half-time.

Benefits of Microsoft Disability Scholarship

$5,000 per year. $20,000 in total

Note:The scholarship is paid through the Seattle Foundation on behalf of the disability Employee Resource Group (ERG) at Microsoft. And it is done directly to the recipient’s school’s Financial Aid Office.

How to Apply

All materials MUST be submitted through the online application link. Emailed or mailed documents will not be accepted.

Documents Required

  1. Transcript: An unofficial copy of your current academic transcript. Note: Official version will be required for shortlisted candidates.
  2. Resume: This should include information o Extracurricular activities, honours and awards that you have received.
  3. Complete Application Form
  4. Two letters of recommendation
  5. Three Essays: In no more than 500 words, describe how you plan to be engaged in the technology industry or technology law or policy in your career

—In no more than 500 words, please share your vision of how Microsoft can innovate its future devices and services solutions to creatively & successfully support those living with disabilities in the workplace and in daily life to reach their potential.

—In no more than 250 words, describe your financial need for this scholarship, include personal financial impact of disability accommodations if any.
