Hokkaido University Scholarships

Hokkaido University Scholarships in Japan offers two scholarship programs: the President Scholarship and the MEXT Scholarship. The application deadlines are different for each of the two fully funded scholarships. A Bachelor’s degree and a Master’s degree are available to all international students.

Types of Hokkaido University Scholarships:

In Japan, the acronym MEXT stands for the ministry responsible for such diverse aspects of society as education, culture, sports, science, and technology. Scholarships are available for undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral degrees from this institution. As a research student, you will be eligible for scholarships at some of Japan’s most prestigious institutions.

Hokkaido University is providing Two Different Types of Scholarship Programss to study for master’s or doctoral degree programs. They are both completely funded and they are;

  1. Hokkaido University President Scholarship
    The Hokkaido University President’s Fellowship This grant is for potential overseas students participating in Master’s, Professional, or Doctoral Degree programs who intend to enroll in October 2022.
  2. The Hokkaido University MEXT University Recommended Scholarship
    The scholarship is for international students who will be studying under the government of Japan, and the expenses will be covered by the Japanese government to study for a Master’s or Ph.D. degree program.

The following programs are offered by the Hokkaido University;

  • Mechanical engineering
  • M science
  • Physics
  • Civil engineering
  • Environmental
  • Resource engineering
  • Architecture and design.

 Eligibility of Hokkaido University Scholarships:

Japan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs is offering it, to be eligible for the scholarship, candidates must meet the following criteria;

  • Applicants must be citizens of a country having diplomatic ties with Japan in order to be considered for this position.
  • A score on an English proficiency test or a university-issued certificate in English.
  • Applicants must have outstanding academic records and a strong commitment to their chosen field.
  • Prior to being eligible to apply for a master’s degree, students must have completed their undergraduate studies.
  • A master’s degree is required for those seeking a doctorate.
