Curriculum:

Case studies and lectures are just two of the instructional techniques used by McDonough professors. The academic year at McDonough is divided into two semesters, with Core Courses lasting twelve weeks and Elective Modules lasting six weeks or one-half of a semester.

Early September until mid-December mark the start of the fall semester. Every six weeks after a module is finished, there is a brief exam period, and there are career weeks and holiday breaks in between modules.

New students complete a weeklong Opening Term at the beginning of the program, during which they study the course Leading Teams for Performance and Impact. The following year is spent by them completing the 15 core requirements. Cohorts of the incoming class finish the core curriculum and live in the same residences.

The underlying ideas of finance, accounting, statistics, economics, marketing, management, and operations are included in the core. Certain core courses may be waived by students in favor of electives rather than the more traditional coursework. MBA candidates take two electives of their choosing during the spring semester of their first year.
