Lamar University MBA Requirements
The Lamar university MBA is a 30-hour program (21 hours of core and 9 hours in a concentration) for those with an undergraduate business degree and up to 36 hours for those who are not business majors. There are an additional 6 hours of leveling courses if you don’t have a business degree from an undergraduate program. The graduate director may decide to waive these courses (if they are on your transcript) at their discretion.
For admission, candidates must satisfy the general university requirements. Additionally, in order to be admitted, applicants must fulfill one of the following criteria:
- Possess a bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution with a 3.0 cumulative GPA or 60 completed hours.
- Have three or more years of progressively increasingly responsible professional or managerial job experience and a Bachelor’s degree from an approved university with a minimum GPA of 2.5.
- Hold a Bachelor’s degree with a minimum GMAT (or GMAT equivalent to GRE) score of 1,000 points or an undergraduate grade point average of 3.0. GMAT (or the GMAT equivalent of GRE) score plus 200 times the cumulative college GPA for the first baccalaureate degree (4.0 system).
The GMAT may not be required of candidates who have a 3.0 GPA OR three or more years of professional experience (with a least 2.5 GPA).

The two leveling courses can be finished either before admission while registering as a post-baccalaureate student or after admission to graduate studies (pre-M.B.A.). 9 semester hours of graduate coursework are the maximum allowed for undergraduate students in their senior year of study.
