Abertay University Scholarships. The Abertay university, formerly the University of Abertay Dundee, is a public university located in the Scottish city of Dundee. Due to a bequest granted in 1872 by Sir David Baxter, 1st Baronet of Kamaron, for the establishment of a mechanics’ institute in Dundee, the Dundee Institute of Technology was established in 1888. It was one of the first to be designated as a core institution, comparable to a “industrial university,” and the Scottish Education Department initially acknowledged it as such in 1902. Abertay received university status in 1994.
Abertay established the first computer games degree in the world in 1997, and the college celebrated 20 Years of Games in 2017 with a number of events. Abertay was the first university to offer an ethical hacking degree, starting in 2006.
