PEO Scholarship

PEO scholarship also known as Philanthropic Educational Organization. It was established in 2009 to provide scholarship for outstanding high school senior women to attend an accredited postsecondary educational institution in the USA.

About the PEO Scholarship

Members of P.E.O. believe that education is fundamental to world peace and understanding. The scholarship is based upon demonstrated need; however, the award is not intended to cover all academic or personal expenses.

Details Of The PEO Scholarship

LEVEL: Masters, Ph.D.
DEADLINE: February 28, 2022.
FUNDING: $20,000 per year depends on individual needs
ELIGIBLE NATIONALITIES: Citizens and permanent resident of United States and Canada
TYPE OF STUDY: Full-Time Course
COUNTRY: United States

Eligibility For The PEO Scholarship

  • An applicant must be qualified for admission to full-time graduate study and working toward a graduate degree in an accredited college or university in the United States or Canada.
  • A student who is a non-citizen or non-permanent resident of the United States or Canada is not eligible.
  • Scholarships are not given for research, internships, or practical training unless it is combined with coursework. Awards are not to be used to pay past debts.
  • In order to qualify for her first scholarship, an applicant must have a full year of coursework remaining, be enrolled and in residence for the entire school year.
  • Doctoral students who have completed coursework and are working only on dissertations are not eligible as first-time applicants.
  • International students attending county college are eligible to apply for a scholarship

Benefits Of The PEO Scholarship

  • $12,000 for a non-degree accredited program, an associate or bachelor’s degree
  • $15,000 for a master’s degree
  • $20,000 for a doctoral degree

How to apply

Application For POE SF Peninsula

  • To apply to POE SF Peninsula, you must attend one of the following high schools: Carlmont, Castilleja,  Eastside Prep, Everest,  Gunn, Menlo-Atherton, Paly, San Mateo High School, Sequoia, Summit, Woodside
  • For 2022, applications must be submitted by February 28, 2022. Generally, late applications are not accepted. However, if an applicant has extenuating circumstances, please send an email to carol@poescholarships.org.

Application For POE South Bay

  • To apply to POE South Bay, you must attend one of the following high schools: Los Gatos High School, Pioneer High School or Lincoln High School
  • For 2022, applications must be submitted by February 28, 2022. Application will be open Oct 21, 2020. Generally, late applications are not accepted. However, if an applicant has extenuating circumstances, please send an email to POESouthBay@poescholarships.org.

Application For POE Mid-Atlantic

  • To apply to POE Mid-Atlantic, you must attend one of the following high schools: Wakefield High School, Justice High School, and St. Michaels High School.
  • For 2022, applications must be submitted by February 28, 2022. Generally, late applications are not accepted. However, if an applicant has extenuating circumstances, please send an email to carolann@4smallwoods.com.

Application For POE Community College Transfer Applicants

  • To apply to the POE Community College Scholarship, you must be applying to transfer to a UC for Fall 2022 and attend one of the following community colleges: Canada College, De Anza College, Foothill College, CSM, Skyline
  • For 2022, applications must be submitted by February 28, 2022. Generally, late applications are not accepted. However, if an applicant has extenuating circumstances, please send an email to carol@poescholarships.org.

Requirements For The Scholarship

  • Has a minimum cumulative unweighted GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale
  • Is in the final academic year (senior year) of her secondary education and is 20 years of age or under at the end of the calendar year
  • Is a citizen or legal permanent resident of the United States or Canada
  • Plans to attend an accredited post-secondary educational institution in the United States or Canada, full-time or part-time, in the fall of the academic year following high school graduation
  • Is recommended by and receives the vote of a local P.E.O. chapter
